My Fav World Places: May 2012

Cambodia is not my favourite place. maybe because it is similar my home country but cleaner. they have some good sight seeing nevertheless.

Mekong River

a pretty clean river (a little bit muddy). we can see a lot of interesting building on the side of the road while staying in a boat. dinner may be provided.

Royal Palace

A lot of amazing building in this place as it is of course the "palace"

Toul Sleng Genocide Museum

reminder of the khmer rouge regime. it was a school but then transformed into an interogation place under PolPot (Political Potential). Pol Pot hated intellectual people and dreamed to build a communism country. He ruled for 3 years but under that time, the people suffered a lot. Pol Pot intended to kill as many as possible including foreign people who came to cambodia.

way of killing: (using bamboo since bullets are expensive)

1. intellectual people was sent for re training and killed

2. non- intellectual people had to work very hard with minimum food and minimum health condition.

3. unlucky people (who break property and say no to the law") will be called "enemy" and were sent to prisoner for interogation. the interogation was simple, they only need to answer yes or no whether they are CIA or KGB if they answer yes then they will be sent to be killed. if they say no, they will be tortured until they say yes.

- only 3 people survived. (painter, electrician, )after they are proven to be anle to meet the standard

pol pot was a gifted man and he was offering free education to people

Angkor Wat

One of the main attraction in Cambodia. A lot of interesting ruins and nice place to relax. it is a very big place but challenging for people who has adventurous personality. I think i may get lost without a guide.
